SPACE-LAB GLUCKSMAN GALLERY
My very first encounter with the Glucksman was in 2005. I was let into the gallery shortly before the opening reception of Paula Rego’s exhibition.
The spaces in- and outside are outstanding and thought-provoking. The Lewis Glucksman Gallery is a cultural and educational institution that promotes the research, creation and exploration of the visual arts.

MAP OF CORK
Where I am now? Cork is a culture club offering different directions. The sun was there again to my delight / cradling the river Lee / which I had passed on my way home / I suddenly remembered / that at last a shape of a landscape / had covered my infidel body …

ARTIST’S RESURRECTION
At Glucksman - this photograph was taken earlier in the summer exhibition ’I went to the woods’ by my daughter Esther. Now it has found its holy place. I know that Art shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

GENDER NEUTRALISATION
Elegit etiam quoddam genus serpentis,
virgineum vultum habens,
quia similia similibus applaudunt …WRONG!
Antonio Capella designed letters in honour of the ’Divina Proportione’. Art can change everything from a point of view … but it mustn’t change the world, if the world doesn’t want to. And the simplest explanation for a medieval artist giving the serpent a woman’s face is that a highly respected exegete had said it had one.

WEIRD FACE
A first response to the Crawford Art Gallery, outside is the stencil of a penguin, inside Lady Lavery with a constant sad face on contemporary art.
25./26.10.2016
PERCEPTIONS OF FIGURES
I bought the photograph in the vintage shop, Washington Road. During the symposium ’Perception 2016: The art of citizenship’ I acknowledged this beautiful life drawing and realised that it is a document which had to be saved in a new context. An image of joy!
28.10.2016
ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPH
Glucksman Gallery building: Just a little move of the photograph and the whole perspective is changed. As human beings we possess the particular attitude towards a point of view (having a perspective) to understand the relative importance of things.
31.10.2016
HALLOWEEN FACES
The way to the election in the USA was like Halloween, scary hilarious and horrible trumpery. (The United States presidential election of 2016 was the 58th quadrennial American presidential election, held on November 8, 2016.) The understanding of democracy by Clinton and Trump made things worse.
08.11.2016
TWICE THE SACRED HEART
Two cards taken from different churches in Cork, becoming fully aware of the one body depicting dissimilar gender. That’s a miracle!
14.11.2016
STEPS TO CALVARY
Passing by the BonSecours Cork Care Centre discovering the 14 reliefs on the outside wall. The art is compassion and love, slow to anger and rich in mercy.
18.11.2016
FACE OF A WOMAN
The well-known image of a migrant mother taken by Dorothea Lange was shown in a lecture but has nothing to do with Ireland. Nonetheless, there is an idealistic link to the past. The famine story of Ireland is inherent.
20.11.2016
ARTIST LATE OF WHO
Work the work of Him
that send you,
while it is yet called day,
for the night cometh,
even the night of death,
when no men can work.
Frottage from a gravestone erected at St. Finnbarrs’s cemetery in order to commemorate the artist and photographer George Stevens who died at the age of 29 in 1870. The inscription is extraordinary and can only be seen in certain sunlight.
23.11.2016
SKETCHES WITH HOUSEFLY
Showing the importance of being spontaneous. The fly is an immediate morbid allusion the the transience of life and the inexorable passage of time, moreover always buzzing around things; showing irritating habits.
25.11.2016
GUT FLORA
The exhibition ’Gut instinct’ at Glucksman Gallery: Feeding the gut flora. Pills for digestion; if our gut thinks, who we are feeding and how is ’who’ showing us our feelings? We digest all its information.
24.12.2016
CAMOUFLAGE LETTER
Good news! Away from home, moving inside out, I’m an Alien in New-Cork but somehow invisible. (The envelope was provided in a church of Cork.)
27.12.2016
ANOTHER ALIEN
From outer space placed on the cutting marks of my protective underlay.
Vol II 2017

FULL MOON
That evening was a little bit brighter than usual, and it’s all thanks to the planet Venus which was 100 times brighter than the brightest star. This event coincided with the full moon. Best opportunity to document this event with a little painting.
17.01.2017
DRINK AND DRAW
At Franciscan Well, where people are asked not to use wet paints or glues or the like that could effect the furniture …, however, it was overcrowded, so I took a photograph and did my little sketch with paint at home I wouldn’t be allowed to use.
28.01.2017
SHADOWS AND SHADES
Controlled photography, the shadow of a past exhibition at Glucksman. Serving suggestion: - shelter - protection - a slight suggestion - a trace - a spectre or ghost - a hint - a indistinct image or idea.
14.02.2017
FACES OF POETSParticipants of the International Poetry Festival in Cork. How can we know the Poet’s nature / Only by sight, when it comes to life / Airborne, earthy and water like? / Would we notice the way / The poet is breathing?
02.03.2017
DISCO BABY
Playing with shapes, colours and rhythm and with no connection to the exhibition „Enter stage left“. I did it before I entered the stage from the right and was thinking of the great time of orange in the seventies.
04.03.2017
FRAGILE TAPES
Once tapes captured voices, at present the evidence of recordings are rarely notable, in other times visual art had witnessed the sound. Watch and listen.
10./11./12.03.2017
LOVE THE LEE
Save Cork City - OPW flood relief proposals are unproven and will cause severe damage to Cork. Old world charme is planned to disappear - panta rhei - everything flows.
17.03.2017
BEER FIGHT
Beer cans on Sankt Patrick’s Day. More flat cans on College road than usual, the leftover from celebration, no ban on beer fights.
07.04.2017
PACKAGE LID OF A CARD BOX
I had cut my pointer finger on the right hand very badly with a broken jar. The scar will remind me forever of this time in Cork. I needed rubber gloves to protect the wound, when opening the card-box, I hold the lid: „I must think what I can do with it.“
26.04.2017
NANO NAGLE
The dressing of the ‚Chocolate Girl‘ in Liotard’s pastel reminds me of the appearance of Nano Nagle. The young faces bears similarities. It’s also a metaphor for serving people with good. Intent on addressing children’s illiteracy and poverty, she opened her first school for girls in 1754, at a time when Catholics were barred from setting up schools on pain of imprisonment, confiscation or even deportation.
02.05.2017
THE BICYCLE WHEEL
Rodin, Duchamp, … rethink art, what is your view says the flag alphabet. Art thinks hard!
08.05.2017
A CERTAIN SUPREMATISM
State institutions are to be cleansed of all religious involvement and influence, while state laws must not exhibit any deference to religious ethos whatsoever. The same has to be considered with art that no longer cares to serve the state and religion, it no longer wishes to illustrate the history of manners … Malevich wrote.
12.05.2017
BEER - MATS
Now Ireland tops the list of drinkers in Europe says a study / in contrary DIGI says: Alcohol tax is anti-competitive. Two headlines in the newspapers on the same day, drinking as culture facing problems and complaints, however support your local pub and collect beer-mats!
19.05.2017
POETRY DAY
Contributing Seamus Heaney’s poem ‚Digging‘ I wrote a poetical answer ‚Fatherland‘ and continued his way of thinking. I focused on the last three lines of ‚Digging‘ and later read my version aloud on the open mic at Ó-bhéal.
24.05.2017
ONE EURO(PE) TRIBUTE MONEY
Brexit and the influence on Ireland, it’s all about money. The ongoing discussion gets on my nervs. There is only one Europe! Render therefore unto Europe the things that are Europe’s.
01.06.2017
SELF-PORTRAIT
What are the changing? My future is indifferent but art gives me strength, … has always given me. Art, for your faithful people life is changed not ended.
